Winterbottom re-signs until 2013

Mark Winterbottom re-signs with Orrcon Steel up until 2013

Mark Winterbottom has confirmed his place with the Ford Performance Racing outfit until the completion of the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship Series today.

The announcement confirms the Orrcon Steel-backed driver will continue his unbroken association with the Ford Motor Company that began when the young prodigy graduated from the Ford KartStars program almost ten years ago.

"It's great to continue the association with Ford, I see myself as a very loyal driver and Ford provided me the opportunity when I was in karting so it is great to repay that faith in the brand by continuing the association," said Winterbottom.

"The new agreement will take it to seven years with Ford Performance Racing, it is nice to be with the same team for such a long period of time.

"Orrcon Steel were with me when I started in V8 Supercars, they're still supporting myself and the team. So when you look at it I'm in a team and manufacturer that I know well with a sponsor I know well which allows me to feel very comfortable about what lies ahead and what we can achieve as a group."

The new year brings an exciting new engineering structure at the Orrcon Steel-backed FPR outfit as renowned engineer Campbell Little re-unites with Winterbottom for the 2010 season.

Little oversaw Winterbottom's record breaking Fujitsu Series Championship victory during 2003, he has been influential in the championship victories by Marcos Ambrose (2003/04), Russell Ingall (2005) and Jamie Whincup (2008).

Winterbottom will be heading to Abu Dhabi tomorrow for a four-day pre-event visit in conjunction with event organisers ahead of the opening round to be held in the region next month (February 18-20). He will have his first outing aboard the Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon for 2010 will be at Winton, Victoria on February 8.
